According to the Regulations of the Sri Lanka Immigrants and Emigrants Act No. 24 of 1948 (Section 34) "Every endorsement granted to any person under these regulations shall be so granted that such endorsement shall expire on a date which is at least two months before the expiry of the passports held by such person ...."

2.  So, it is mandatory for all concerned applicants, to be aware of above legal provision and henceforth, requests made by Indian nationals to extend their residence visas up to the expiry of their passports would not be entertained by Sri Lankan Deptt. of Immigration and Emigration.
