Shri Raakesh Natraj
Shri Raakesh Natraj is an officer of the Indian Foreign Service, Batch of 2015, and has served in Buenos Aires, Argentina & the Assistant High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka in Kandy, prior to being appointed as the Consul General of India to Sri Lanka in Jaffna.
Apart from serving as a Head of Post, he has also handled various charges, including spells in the Administration, Commercial, Cultural, Public Relations and External Publicity Divisions during his stints abroad and in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
Born on 23rd May 1984 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics and Communication) and went on to do an MBA at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. An interest in the written word made him opt for a different career path, as he chose to work as a journalist with two of the most well-known English dailies in India - The Hindu, Chennai and The Indian Express, New Delhi. After close to six years as a journalist, he joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2015.
He is interested in literature, history, economics, sports and music. He speaks English, Spanish, Tamil.
