Consul General of India in Jaffna - Mahalingam appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana in South America

          Consul General of India in Jaffna - Venkatachalam Mahalingam has been appointed by the Government of India as the next High Commissioner of India to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana in South America.

          He has been the first Consul General of India since the inception of the Consulate in Jaffna in November 2010.  He has over 20 years of experience in the field of diplomacy.  The Consul General, who is an Engineer and a Management Graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, had earlier worked in Indian Embassies at Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Zagreb and also in various capacities in the Ministry of External Affairs including twice as Regional Passport Officer in Chennai and Delhi.

          He is expected to take up his assignment in Guyana shortly.
