Consulate General of India, Jaffna  has   a  library within its  premises located at  14 Maruthady Lane, Nallur,  Jaffna.  The  library has over 1000 books    in three different languages  English,  Hindi and  Tamil.  More than 400 books are in Tamil language   from a wide range of subjects  -  Hinduism,  Religion,  History, Philosophy,  Foreign policy,  Yoga, Classical dance and art, Cooking etc.,  The library has also a  small collection of  CD and DVDs on topical issues and     films. 

General public  are requested to  avail of this facility at the Consulate on any working day  between 1000 – 1230 hrs and   1430-1630 hrs.  Those who are interested to  borrow the books/videos will have  to register  their names with the Consulate on  payment of  SLR 500/- fees, which is refundable,  when the member decides to terminate the  membership and  (a) return the books which have been taken on loan (b) return the  Membership card.

Membership forms are  available in the Consulate, which can be filled  up submitted  along with a  copy of the  Identity  card/passport  and/or  any other documents which gives the name, age, place of residence of the member.
