INDIA EDUCATION FAIR 2019 OPENS IN JAFFNA

The Northern Province Governor’s representative His Worshipful Mr. Emmanuel Arnold, Jaffna Mayor inaugurated the India Education Fair at Hotel Valampuri this morning in the presence of Mrs. Vijayakala Maheswaran, State Minister for Education, as the special guest of honour. Mayor Arnold and Consul General Balachandran, among other speakers, addressed the gathering of over 300 participants.

2. This is the first time, a private company, M/s. SAPE Events & Media Private Limited, Kolkata, in association with the Consulate General of India in Jaffna and the Education Ministry of the Northern Province organized the Fair in Jaffna. 14 Indian universities/educational institutions including about 10 from Tamil Nadu State of India took part in the exhibition. Besides providing career guidance and spot admissions, the educational institutions also extended scholarships/fee remissions to deserving students. The Consulate officials were also available at the Fair to guide students on the Indian visa formalities. The Indian Institutions are also offering a bridge course in English to admitted students to overcome language constraints, if any, for the switchover from Tamil to English medium of instruction in India.

3. The Fair is open to the public from 10 am to 6 pm from today until tomorrow at Hotel Valampuri (first floor).
