With a grant-in-aid of LKR 216,000 given by the Consulate General of India in Jaffna, the Vavuniya National College of Education organized a cultural function in commemoration of the Tamil poet ‘Avvaiyaar’ on 24th March (Sunday) from 9 am to 1 pm at their auditorium.

The College Principal Mr.Swarnaraj presided over the function. Consul General Balachandran was the Chief Guest. Over 200 students including Vice-Principals, Lecturers, special guests and non-academic staff participated in the function. Consul General Balachandran inaugurated the function with the garlanding of the portrait of ‘Avvaiyaar’ and also addressed the gathering. The function included song, dance and drama performances by students and teachers, who also received certificates of appreciation.
