The Consulate General of India celebrated the ICCR Foundation Day 2019 at North Gate by Jetwing this evening (9th April, 2019).

Over 85 guests including the Hon’ble Governor of the Northern Province, NPC Chairman Mr. CVK Sivagnanam, senior government functionaries, University of Jaffna Vice Chancellor, former Opposition Leader, and beneficiaries of ICCR scholarships participated in the function.

Consul General Balachandran welcomed the guests. A debate on whether the people of the Northern Province utilize the ICCR’s programmes fully or not was held under the leadership of Mr. Laleesan, President of Jaffna Tamil Sangam.

In his welcome speech, the Consul General appealed to the people of the Northern Province to take the fullest benefits from the ICCR schemes. Prof Velnamby and Prof Mikunthan shared their experiences as ICCR beneficiaries. NPC Chairman Sivagnanam congratulated the ICCR on its foundation day.
