Press Release

1. The Consulate observed the 99th death anniversary of India’s National Poet Subramaniya Bharathy at a ceremony organized at the Poet’s statue at Arasady Junction in Jaffna this morning (11th September, 2020).

2. Consul General Balachandran, Hon’ble Member of Parliament D. Siddarthan, NPC Chairman CVK Sivagnanam, Jaffna Mayor Arnold, retired Jaffna University Professors, senior officials and admirers of the Poet garlanded the statue and also offered floral tributes as a mark of respect to the Poet.

3. The programme ended with the observance of a two-minute silence.
