Observance of 100th death anniversary of Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi

1. The Consulate observed the 100th death anniversary of India’s National Poet Subramaniya Bharathiar today morning (11 Sep 2021). Owing to the COVID-19 restrictions, Consul General Raakesh Natraj Jayabhaskaran garlanded & offered floral tribute to the “Mahakavi” at the Consulate & India House.

2. Hon’ble Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda, Hon’ble Members of Parliament Angajan Ramanathan, Dr. Suren Raghavan, M. A. Sumanthiran, Selvam Adaikkalanathan, Dharmalingam Siddharthan, S. Sritharan, C. V. Wigneswaran, Hon’ble Chairman of the Northern Provincial Council C. V. K. Sivagnanam, Jaffna Mayor His Worship V. Mannivannan, former Members of Parliament Suresh Premachandran & M. K. Sivajilingam, former Head of the Department of Tamil, Jaffna University Prof S. Sivalingarajah, marked their respects to the Mahakavi through video or audio messages.
