Indian fishermen detained at Mayiladdi fishing harbor and Mannar

1. Consulate General of India, Jaffna provided legal and consular assistance to 43 Indian fishermen detained at Mayiladdi fishing harbor on 18 December and to 12 Indian fishermen detained in Mannar on December 19, 2021.

2. Consular officials of the Post enquired into the welfare of the fishermen and provided them with clothes, toiletries, snacks, dry essentials and masks while also facilitating phone calls to their family members in India. The Consulate has also been providing them legal assistance for their early release.
