Distribution of rice and milk powder under AKSHAYPATRA, humanitarian assistance program of Government of India in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.
1. Continuing India's outreach to the people of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka to address their necessities through humanitarian assistance programmes, Hon'ble Raakesh Natraj, Consul General, along with Hon'ble MP Selvam Adakalanathan and K. Vimalanathan, GA Mullaitivu, flagged off distribution of 2,50,000 kg of rice and 2250 kg of milk powder meant for Mullaithivu at the District Secretariat. This assistance will benefit close to 28,000 families in Mullaitivu district alone. In the near future, distribution of assistance will commence in other districts of the Northern Province.
2. As part of this Indian assistance, thousands of families belonging to low income groups as well as pregnant mothers will benefit. This is part of Government of Tamil Nadu's assistance to the people of Sri Lanka, comprising 40,000 MT of rice and 500 MT of milk powder, which will be distributed across the island shortly.
