Consulate General of India, Jaffna Organizes Blood Donation Camp to Mark World Blood Donor Day
- To commemorate World Blood Donor Day, Consulate General of India, Jaffna, in collaboration with Jaffna Teaching Hospital, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 13 June 2025 at Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre.
- The event aimed to promote the spirit of voluntary blood donation and encourage greater participation from the public in life-saving initiatives. In a unique gesture to promote environmental consciousness alongside health awareness, free saplings were distributed to all donors, symbolizing the gift of life and growth both through blood donation and greenery.
- The blood donation camp was formally inaugurated by Consul General Shri. Sai Murali, alongside the Director of Jaffna Teaching Hospital Dr T Sathiyamoorthy. Speaking at the inauguration, Consul General Shri. Sai Murali emphasized the critical importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and contributing to the well-being of the community. Dr. Sathiyamoorthy while inaugurating the event also offered heartfelt condolences for the lives lost in the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, India.
- This initiative reflects the shared values of India and Sri Lanka in fostering compassion, public health, and environmental sustainability. It also highlights the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the areas of humanitarian service and community well-being.
- The Consulate extends heartfelt gratitude to all blood donors and the staff of Jaffna Teaching Hospital for their support and participation in making this event a success.
