Consulate of India, Jaffna Celebrates 77th Republic Day of India

1. The Consulate of India in Jaffna celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on January 26, 2026, with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor.

2. The celebrations commenced with Consul General Shri Sai Murali and officials of Consulate General of India paying homage at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Palaly, Jaffna.

3.This was followed by the ceremonial unfurling of the Indian National Flag at India House. Excerpts from the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu’s Address to the Nation on the eve of Republic Day were read out, followed by an address by the Consul General.

4. The programme featured patriotic and cultural performances, including a rendition of “Vande Mataram” by students of India Corner to mark its 150th year, followed by cultural presentations by families and staff of the Consulate.

5. The event was attended by over 150 participants, including officials and their families of the Consulate, Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OIC), and friends of India.
