Lives of the people of Jaffna should be as green as the soil of Jaffna, said A.Natarajan, Consul General of India in Jaffna. He made this remark at the Pongal Day Cultural Festival celebrated at the Esplanade of Jaffna Fort.

    “I wish to express my gratitude for organizing this excellent event today. I did not anticipate this. It makes me a nostalgic. It has been just ten days since I first set my feet on this golden land. I have been to the outskirts of Jaffna town and found that this is a staggering beautiful green land.

    During my visit to Mannar for the visit of the Pope, I have enjoyed the scenic beauty of green paddy fields. I wish all Tamil people to have a green life like this. A proverb says that when January comes there will be brightness in everyone’s lives. May you be blessed with such a brightness.
