67th Independence Day of India was celebrated by the Consulate General of India in Jaffna today at Consulate premises. Mr. V. Mahalingam, Consul General of India unfurled the National flag which was followed by rendering of the National Anthem by the officials of the Consulate and the Indian community. Consul General of India read the Hon’ble President’s address to the Nation on the eve of Independence Day. Prominent Indians including officials of Indian Railway Construction Company (IRCON) based in Jaffna, Vavuniya and Mannar involved in the railway re-construction project in Northern Province, and Indian Bank were present during the occasion.
