Celebration of the 138th Birth Anniversary of India’s National Poet Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar

1. The 138th birth anniversary of India’s National Poet Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar was celebrated this morning (December 11, 2020) with Consul General Balachandran garlanding and paying floral tributes to his statue at Arasady Junction in Jaffna. Northern Provincial Council Chairman Mr. C V K Sivagnanam, Jaffna Mayor Arnold, Leaders and representatives of main political parties Mr.Mavai Senathirajah, Mr.M.K.Shivajilingam, Mrs.Ananthi Sasitharan, Mrs.Bawadharani Rajasingham, Mrs.Yogeswari Patkunarajah, Mr.Gajadeepan, Mr.Maravanpulavu Sachithananthan, Prof Shanmuga Das, Prof Sivalingarajah, Jaffna Tamil Sangam President Lalisan and other prominent dignitaries similarly garlanded the statue of Subramaniya Bharathiyar and paid floral tributes.
